Pushed Starter button what do the beeps mean

I have a 98 GTX RFI and i just happened to repeatedly press the start/stop button 5 times with out the lanyard attached. It beeped once softly, followed by a louder beep. Does anyone know what this means?

Is it possible that it thinks there is a bad connection with the lanyard? It beeps if you try to start it with a bad lanyard connection.
