Waz Up Guys,

I'm seeking advise on purchasing a jetski with a re-built motor.

Is it ok to purchase a jetski with a re-built motor or should I stay away from it ?

What should I really be looking for in a re-built jetski motor ?

Honest Advise Welcomed,

Joe

There is nothing wrong with a Ski that has a rebuilt motor as long as it was done correctly! check the hull interior for items that shouldnt be there. like Bolts, washers, hose clamps. if you see those then you know that they're are NOT where they are supose to be. Makes me think they rushed through it and may have forgot to do something important. I DON'T have left over bolts when I build a motor, the factory put them all in there for a reason.
Ask for receipts.. never take someones word that a motor was rebuilt. ask for proof.

Like benchracer said, ask for receipts. Take it for a test drive too. I test drove mine, saw the receipts, talked with the mechanic (he's the one who owns the shop who was selling the ski/still maintains it now that I own it). It came with a warranty and still runs like a charm.

Bottom line: Double check everything, but don't be afraid of a rebuilt motor.

Trust but verfiy, and be sure the fuel/oil system is working, mark the oil tank and use the same oil as previous owner to avoid gel that occurs when mixing oils. Look for a bottle of the oil in the glove box, if you mix and gel you will have to face the rebuild all over again.
