Punctured PTO boot by accident options ?

Hey everyone,

I punctured my pto boot by accident trying to put the clamp back on. I have rebuilt the jet pump and replaced the carrier bearing. And sealed the jetpump with “the right stuff really dont want to pull the jetpump back off to replace boot any options ? Is the boot very important? Or can i run it with this small puncture? Or is there a way to seal it? I was thinking of putting some sort of tire glue on it or even a smear of the right stuff on it or a bike tire patch or will that throw drive shaft balance off ?

thank you!

Okay that did not work at all … the grease oozed right out… still looking for suggestions, cleaned it up and now at starting point again

The chances of getting something to bond and seal are pretty slim. But you could always try flex seal paint. It made a boat from a screen door

No need to put so much grease that it pressures up. the grease you put on the shaft and in the hole before assembly will likely last 2 years easy. If I was worrying about sealing it back up I plug it from the inside where centrifugal force will hold it in place. RTV, glue Epoxy, lots of stuff out there to try. Good Luck but I wouldn't worry about it. Keep wiping it till it gets happy and quicks puking grease.

In addition, I'd dig most of that excess grease out of the boot. I damn sure wouldn't disassemble anything. Good Luck again. LOL

I'm with "e",,,I would clean the rubber with acetone, and the put black rtv sealant it,,,as he said, the grease in there will last quite a while,,,literally, it has no place to go,,,the pto is threaded over the crank end,

Thats exactly what i did as e suggested, cleaned it with some brake cleaner and threw a nice layer of oil resistant sealant and called it a day.
