So I took my pump off to replace wear ring and started with starboard drive. In the picture u see busted plastic... Is this a driveshaft housing? Is it necessary? Also in other picture u see the .14 gap! That hard plastic seal?? Is the one replaced with the neoprene? Also can impeller be cleaned up?

Gonna finish tonight so a quick answer would be great! Awesome gap in wear ring... Probly y I could only hit 40mph

The plastic around the shaft is not required. Once it gets damaged most break the rest of it off..

And yes,,, that wear ring is wiped out for sure..

Here's a pic of my cone and oil... No water in there but oil is jet black and lacks any metal shavings luckily

I'll definitely cut that plastic off... Couple questions too: 1st one is done, put some dish soap in and fired up since it felt a little tight (we're no pump shims) and I got just a few fine shavings from new wear ring. Is this normal? Second pump is bonded somehow N wing a pain to get off boat... One lug is all that's holdin it on n it won't budge!

Small shavings on a new wear ring are normal. On the other pump, chances are the po used silicone to seal the pump to the hull. This happens more then reported. It also happens when you pull the pump to clear a rag or debris that gets wrapped around the driveshaft and find the neoprene seal is bad. In a quick fix, silicone is the goto fix.
It can be a bear to get the pump body separated from the hull when it's glued in like that. Is the pump plastic or metal?
On mine, there are little "hooks" on the pump lugs that you can get a prying device under and work the pump off the hull. Use common sense and not brute force and work it loose.

Both wear rings are in!! Can't wait to try this baby out with new rings instead of a 1/4" gap. Maybe i can get above 40 now. I found no water anywhere around the pumps and bearing/seals looked good so I topped nose cone off with 75w90 full synthetic. I really think I could change a wear ring in 30 minutes now. You were also right, one side was basically glued on, patience and a rubber mallet finally popped it off. I'm gonna print out the inspection sheet from my Manuel tomar n service everything good... Just think, 3 weeks ago I didn't know what a Rotax engine or a jet pump was... Now I've rebuilt both! This forum is a lifesaver!
