Pump support bracket on hull

Hi. I am rebuilding my pump and replacing impeller and wear ring. Working on 1996 Sea Doo GSX.

I did notice when disassembling pump (from hull PUMP SUPPORT bracket) that there appears to be a rubber boot or perhaps its part of the wear ring that has stuck around pump support.

Is it an actual rubber boot or the wear ring that has stuck on through the years?

Hope this makes sense. Thanks

Carl

The only thing I can see is some black sealent that will need to be cleaned off and will require some new sealent when you put it back to geather. Some very good sealent can be bought at advanced auto parts it is called RIGHT STUFF. It comes in a can that looks like the same type of can that cracker cheese spred comes in. It is recomended by many pros and I allso believe that seadoo may sale it.

robin, how crucial is that sealer? i am having a lot of cavitation issues with my speedster. will the pumps suck air in thru there if it isn't sealed?

that seal is critical to the ski. i did not have one on mine and replaced it with a neoprene seal and my cavitation problems went away immediately. if your boat doesn't have the seal listed in the parts diagram put the sealant on. happy boating.

There are other places that can cause cavitation. If impeller and wear ring are good and you seal up pump and you still have caitation then I would remove pump and replace thew hull seal and reseal pump and report back if you still have cavatation.
