Pump problems

So I was on my honeymoon and took my 210 seadoo challenger to muskoka (great spot in Ontario). On my second last day we were in shallow water and sucked up some small sticks into the pump. Thought they just cleared after driving a short distance (I thought it was seaweed). Docked for the night. Next morning heard real bad high pitch noises from port side motor. Shut it down and put it on the trailer. Found a small stick in it. Got the stick out and back in the water same noise. Pulled it back out and took the pump off. Bearing was totally destroyed. I've got all new parts to rebuild my pump but here's my concern. There was a fair amount of water in the hull.

I'm concerned this may be a carbon seal issue. The impeller shaft was kinda crooked and as I mentioned the bearing destroyed. The drive shaft looks perfectly in position.

Could also have been my new wife putting the drain plug in sloppy. She had never done it before and was trying to be helpful.

I checked the hoses nothing is cracked or lose. Any thoughts?

Well I'll reply to my own thread. Got the new pump on and running great. No water coming in. Carbon seal musta snapped back into place. Now I got s low oil pressure on the motor that just got the new pump. Grrr

Bummer no replies to your original post, but glad you got everything fixed.

With your new problem, you may want to start a new thread with a new subject line so it will get noticed.

How do you know you know you have low oil pressure? dummy light on dash or gauges? Did you actually hook up an oil pressure gauge? I say this because it is very common for the oil sensors to go bad. Do you have any trouble codes from the engine?

Also need to know how much water was in the engine compartment.

First thing, check oil level which should be right in the middle of the 2 bends, check for any leaks when running especially down near the drive shaft since it may have been out of alignment during your pump problem. Check the oil for any water contamination which would be milky or muddy brown. check the oil filter as well, make sure it is not collapsed and in good shape, could indicate water in the engine, which is what I sort of suspect.

Do you have this problem immediately after startup or after a certain period of time and/or rpm?

Post back with some better detail and after checking the things I mentioned. We'll try to get you up and running again.
