Hello all, I have 1998 seadoo sportster 1800 twins. I need help locating the spot to check the pump oil level. Any help or ideas is needed I'm new to boating and this site but love both...
There really isn't one, if the oil tank has gotten cloudy it's hard to see how much oil you have. I came up with a way to check the oil on my 96GSX, get a zip-it (it's a device for cleaning drains), clip the barbs off and it makes a pretty good dipstick. I got mine at ACE Hardware.
Are you speaking of the 2-cycle oil for the engine or the oil in the jet pump? If you are speaking about the jet pump, there really isn't a way to check it, you just change it.
Fort Walton beach its a really nice place. The beaches are crystal clear and the sand is white as sugar...boating is fun here. My only other concern is that my left motor is hard to start in water and on take off I have to pump the throttle cable to pull through the take off. The motor is brand new plus the wear rings too
Never been to that part of the state, but have heard great things about it.
I would imagine that if the engine is new, the normal stuff (compression, fuel lines, carb rebuild) have been done too. How do the spark plugs look? The carb may need to be adjusted. Here is a thread that tells all about that:
Sounds good will check it out n see if it helps out. Yea everything that u stated has been done but still doesn't mean it was done right. I'll recheck carbs. But as of were I live its nice we have lots of places to beach (little islands) n just relax...
I suppose you could pull the fill plug & use something to dip down to see how far down the oil level is but if you're that far in, you might as well pop the cone off, replace the seal & put new oil in! Besides, when we changed the oil on ours last weekend, there was a small amount of water but nearly full of oil otherwise. I never would have known the water was there if I had just pulled the fill plug out.
