Pump housings and impellers trashed

Finally got around pulling my pumps apart after a bad rock sucking event in late summer. Found that most of the veins in both pump housings are trashed. Also one cone missing most its oil and the others oil was milky white. (Most likely a breach in the side?)
The interesting thing I found was my impellers have been worked on before. The last three digits of the part number have been scraped out a new ones punched in. Anyone know what the new numbers might mean?

Thanks!

That is the part #. When a pitch change was made the part# reflects that change, it was often they grind the old part# out and stamp the new one.. I'll assume your boat has 720's in in not 787 engines. That is a 720 powered impeller. Time for some new pumps or good rebuilt used ones.

Yes 720! I did not know a impeller could be re-piched. This there a way to decode the new number?

I'm try to decide to fix these if they are better for pulling skiers over stock.

Thanks for the reply!

I went to the Solas swirls on my boat. Better for lowend and chopping of vegetation. New plastic pumps are in the low $200's. I found 2 used brass vein ones for $100 w/good bearings so I went that way.

Was there a noticeable "seat of the pants" top end loss? Not saying I would miss it just curious.
Do they chop rocks to? ;-)

When you replaced your housings did you go from plastic to brass or brass to brass? I kinda like the idea of brass. But thinking damage might be transfer to the drive shaft/motor more readily with brass.

I really didn't tell in the speed difference. I am sure I lost 1-2 MPH but it takes off better and pulls real good. I did have the plastic pumps and they were broken up to like yours and the impellers were beat up so I just went to the swirls you are not going to get more speed out of the 717's. I just like the reliability and easiness to maintain those engines. So pretty much all my seadoo's I have are 717's or 657x.
