What would cause my spi to do absolutely nothing when start button is pressed? Battery is charged terminals are clean. Kill button is working (getting continuity when pushed) same with start button. Can somebody please tell me what to check next.

Although I'm not specifically familiar with the SPIs, if it has a starter relay, you can test it. From what I've read from others, you can bridge the two terminals of the starter relay using a screwdriver or pliers. If the engine begins to start, it's likely the starter relay that needs to be replaced.

If if doesn't turn over the engine, then you'd need to check the starter next.

I checked power at the starter and it doesn't have power when the starter button is pressed, so I guess I have to get into the electronics box. I was hoping it was maybe a safety sensor somewhere that was faulty. Thank you for the help. I will pull it apart tomorrow.

Everything is in the Gray box. Check your fuses, starter solenoid, determine if your safety switch is working properly. You can jump across the solenoid to engage the starter. It gets a little cramped working in the hole. :D Since you haven't looked at any of that stuff yet keep it simple and look at the basic stuff. Good Luck.

Yes, you should be able to work the grey box out the top and front with the seat off behind the tank with the battery out. At least that is how my 717 XP was.

Did you remove and reinstall the safety key? I had one that would spin over but not get fire. Simply pull the key and reinstall and it would start right up. Before you pull all that stuff apart I'd look for the simple stuff. Leave the box alone. Check the key, check the switch, check the connections to the mag plug on front of the engine. something is likely loose or just not making good contact.

As for the gray box, I don't remove it completely. I unplug what I need to and work on it on top of the gas tank. If you're gonna test things you need them connected. Good Luck.

Didn't read this till now, but I already pulled the box out. But yes I checked switch and lanyard cut off and they test good at the connections. I don't know what or where the "mag plug" is though. I did however jump the starter solenoid and it did turn over.

Got the box out, fuses are good and turns over when I jump the starter solenoid.

Be absolutely certain you have a good connection from the battery to the engine block (earth). They can corrode and break over time and engine vibration. If you don’t have a solid connection it won’t kick over. Other things I would check would be all of the fuses in the fuse box next to the battery. One of them may be possibly blown.
Even if you battery is cactus it should still show signs of wanting to crank over. Also take the plugs out to initially get things moving internally if it hasn’t been kicked over in a while.

First of all are your display clocks coming on (beeps) ?
If so are u getting any clicking from the solenoids ?
Have you checked your ground connections are good ?
Are your fuses all good ?
From my experience with my RX DI its usually something really simple like a bad cable or a blown fuse in the main relay ?
If you have an mpem go check for blown fuses as they can knock your whole ski out also ?

Just recently had the same thing happen to my '92XP. Ran great all summer, new battery, hit the starter and nothing. Changed out the recently purchased, cheep piece of crap starter relay off Amazon and BAM! Up and running again.

I have been out of town working for the last week but got home today. It did actually start after I rebuilt the fuel system and later that day I went to start it again and nothing. So I checked fuses and they are good. I can jump the starter solenoid and it will turn over but no spark? I did order a starter solenoid.

Well I'm getting ready to put this cheap piece of crap Amazon starter solenoid in, hope it works! Thanks!
