ok pulled the boot back pulled the c clip off then pulled everything out, first question, is the carbon seal suppose to be so loose on the shaft, second is where the carbon seal touches the back of the stainless peice where it seals out the water? so do i need a new stainless peice also? i got everything else, the shaft doesnt look bent when i spin it but one side of the carbon ring had a groove in it and its way bigger than the shaft, also my oil line is leaking under the tank from the big line is that just a grommet? im gonna be replacing my oil filter and fuel filter when im done with this driveline stuff and welding my rideshoe back on,

ok thanks again for the advise, i was kinda nervous, im out in the truck allweek reading about this and just cant wait to get by the house so i can do a little work here and there on it, i ordered the stainless cup today, you guys totally rock, hey dr honda i sent you a pm about the tool to press in pump bearings, i need to buy one, whats the best way to check your driveshaft to see if its bent? i spin it and it looks straight but i wanna make sure its done right, take it to a machine shop and have them check it?

Roll the driveshaft on a nice and flat surface, look for a wobble. I use the top of a metal filing cabinet.

OK I will try that ty. But I won't be home til Thursday uugghh. Hey Dr Honda I have a question. A few weeks ago I posted a pic of my ride shoe and the corner was poking out a little in the intake grate. Anyway I found another shoe. He cut it outta the fiberglass with a chain saw and wants $350.00 and I gotta strip the glass off when I get it. Or am I just better off welding the aft portion of mine back on that I broke off trying to remove the shoe then break off the corner that is sticking out and fill it in flush with resin. Or get it welded then run it and see how it does? I will post a pic tonight of the corner when I stop in chicago

Based on the inner wear of that carbon ring it looks like there is an alignment issue... could be just how the bellow is tightened down but it looks like the shaft isn't sitting center on the carbon ring. Maybe others with more expertise could chime in.
