Hello forum, sending my 01 DI engine to SES for a rebuild, have located ordered my flywheel puller, now im trying to locate the PTO tool, anybody have a place they have found any ? thanks

Use an impeller tool. Just put it in the PTO splines.

THEN....

You will need a few feet of rope. Put the rope down the sparkplug hole, and let the piston compress on that, so you can twist the PTO off. (regular threads)

FYI... when I remove a PTO... I use a 6' long breaker bar, on a 3/4" Drive ratchet. It normaly takes A LOT of pressure to get it to loosen.

FYI 2: Leave the engine bolted into the hull. Because it takes so much pressure... the engine needs to be anchored.

FYI 3: DO NOT use an impact on the PTO !!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you do... there's a high probability that you will simply rip out the splines.

Use the right tools... and the job is easy. Use the wrong tools, and you will hurt yourself or the engine.

The DI motors pto are NOT threaded, they are pressed on, so don't try to unscrew since you'll cause major damage. Take the 6 bolts out and remove the collar, take flywheel bolt out and then all you need is a puller, most standard heavy duty 3 bolt automotive pullers will work.

Even for the threaded ones, I don't recommend using an impeller tool. It's just too easy to rip out the splines. The best method is to use a large pipe wrench on the outer shaft and a 3' breaker pipe(watch out for the grease zerk). It will put teeth marks in the pto but you won't strip out your threads.
