95 xp 717. Making sure pto loosens to the left. Also, antiseize when the new one goes on? How many ft lbs do i torque it? I see flywheel(pto side) 81 ft lbs. is that it? The flywheel is on the opposite end from the pto so that's confusing

Yes... they are standard threads.

As far as, "How tight"... Honestly... the actual torque isn't important... just make it tight. Basically... as it runs, it will tighten itself.

I can honestly say... in all my PWC years... I've never broken out a torque wrench to set a seadoo PTO.

NO WAY that thing is coming off. Maybe heat will work but the rope trick aint getting it. When i really push hard it compacts the rope enough that it'll let loose and spin the motor over. Have at least a foot of 5/8 nylon in there. Where should i heat the pto? Hope i dont melt any crank seals. This sucks bad. I have a huge pipe wrench and a 5 ft weatherhead pipe on it.

You need much more than a foot of rope! try 2 ft! start with the PTO piston all the way at the bottom of its stroke and fill her up! I would wait on the heat for just what you outlined-crank seals. Just work at it. You may have to tighten it first, then loosen. or pull the through hull fitting and get an impact in there to help break it free. Leverage should conquer. Just get some more rope in there to take up the space.

Thanks birks, ill try tightening it. Shaft and pump are already off. The factory pto doesnt have any way to put an impact on it. The Replacement one does.... Oh wait, i do have the impeller tool so i can impact on it with that then use the pipe wrench to try to break it loose. Thanks! I had already forgotten bout the impact since somebody told me earlier not to use the tool.

Desperate times come for desperate measures. I would rather try an impact than heating it. (inside a hull with fuel vapors, battery vapors, oil. NO THANK YOU! Maybe on a bench, not in the hull!

An impact with an impact u joint using short bursts (tighten, loosen, tighten, loosen, should break it free. Just dont leave it on for 20+ seconds hoping for it to come off. That's when you'll strip the splines, or snap an extension/u-joint. BTW IMPACT U-joint or none. Not the chrome ones, unless you want shrapnel.

DO NOT USE AN AIR IMPACT ON THE PTO IF YOU PLAN ON REUSING IT !!!!! If it's powerful... you will pound the splines right out of it. Also... I wouldn't use any heat.

As above... use a couple feet of rope if needed. You want to lock the engine, about mid stroke. Then... put a breaker bar on it that 3 or 4 feet long. With that much leverage... it will pop, and wont' even take too much effort.

Needless to say... if the engine isn't bolted down... it's dam near impossible to get it off.

Got it! The impact did the trick. I have a new pto honda. I had pushed and pushed with a 5 foot pipe. I had the side of the ski lifted up on the trailer a little once lol. It wasnt giving. I had to take the bolts back out of the motor mounts and twist the motor for the impact even with the ujoint. The hull fitting was in the way. Bolted it back down for the pipe wrench. Thanks yall. After the bama game im going to put the new pto on with gobs of antiseize. There was no loctite or antiseize evident.
