I need to remove my PTO and have been looking for the OEM tool. To my suprise everyone wants over $100 for part number 295 000 001. Can the WR001 Solas Impeller Tool work for this? I have seen several aplications saying that the OEM tool will work on Solas.

Here is some info on removing a PTO...This should work on you seadoo.

The PTO is different for 97 and newer xp's and hx's...

The best way I have found is set the motor on the ground and take some cotton rope. put about 10 - 12 inches of rope down the spark plug hole careful not to let it come out the exhaust or intake ports.

Slowly by hand turn the PTO till the rope is compressed in the cylinder and is evenly distributing pressure on the piston.

Get a buddy, a pipe wrench, and a long breaker bar (about 3-4 feet long.)

Have your buddy hold the motor in place and attach the pipe wrench and breaker bar extension about 4 inches off the ground.

When your buddy is ready, stomp on the breaker bar to shock the pto off....

It will spin freely from there.

Thanks, Karl you have a lot of good ideas. I found the tool on Denis Kirk for $15.00 with shipping. I use pneumatic tools so I think with the tool and enough air I can shock it off the shaft is removed from the engine with a buddy stepping on the crank.

hi. i am sorry karl, but i have to disagree with this method. you would be putting way too much stress on 2 or 3 needle bearings in the piston end of the rod. can put dents in the rod, or flatten the needles. i take a jug off and put a hammer handle or other piece of hardwood between the crank throw and the case. then i have a piece of flat steel, 3 inch wide quarter inch plate, about 3 feet long. i slide that between motor and mount plate and i have enough leverage to unbolt the PTO. the load is then spread over all 6 main roller bearings. vic, you may well find the air tool doesn't have enough oomph. it is only about 5 minutes work to pop crank into case and put case on the engine plate. what did you get for a crank?

I went with a NEW Hot Rods crank for $355, this is not a bad price since everywhere I looked everyone wanted $425 and up and it is rebuildable. The crank should be here on July 30th and so will the PTO tool.

Rope trick worked for me, make sure you remove the zerk fitting on PTO, just incase the pipe wrench slips, or you can use a chain wrench, also...good luck
