Besides leveling the ski, which I do by putting a level on the 3 spark plug caps and cranking jack until level, which does put the nose down a bit. Then I run engine for 30 seconds let it sit for a few min then ck oil level. Is this the right way to do it?

According to my service manual and the operators manual “Oil level verification “ is done with the engine “warmed up” either in the water or on the hose. After it’s warmed up you let it idle for 30 seconds turn it off and wait at least 30 seconds for oil to settle then check the oil level on the dipstick verifying it’s between the full and add marks. You are correct the ski needs to be level also.

Liquids increase their volume with a increase in temperature.

Never over fill
The 4 Tecs hate it
I believe in above half way but below full so around the 3/4 mark
Check before every ride
