Proper riding etiquette?

New PWC owner here of a 2000 SeaDoo GTX-DI. Bought it with 5 hrs on it and have since put on another 5 to break in. Here's the noob question.

I am the type that worries and babies everything to death. What is the proper and maybe not so proper way to ride this thing? I have a family member that likes to jump on it and ride it like a rodeo bull steer and frankly it worries me that this stresses the engine or something?

Is it fine to gun it then 180 into your own wake then gun it out of the wake?

If you go full throttle how long can/should you go full throttle?

It really depends on who you ask i guess. If the ski is properly maintained and well taken care of it shouldn't hurt it to ride hard. However like any motor vehicle no matter how you ride it there will be wear and tear on the engine.
I figure "RIDE it like you STOLE it" and fix it if it breaks.

My dealer recommended to avoid going full throttle across the lake shore-to-shore. Nor going full until the engine is warm - like any vehicle a few seconds and things already warm up. Having said all that, they also recommended to go wild and have fun w/ the jet as often as possible - they're designed to do spins and fly out of thru their own wake. Proper maintenance of the ski is most important to maintain its longevity.

Hope that allows you to worry less about your family member's ride ethics. However, if you don't feel comfortable with their abuse you should stand up for your SeaDoo and let them know you'd appreciate it if they would baby your possessions such as you do, otherwise they can splurge for their own!
