Awesome forum first off. Thanks

I was wondering if 8k for a 1999 seadoo challenger 1800 that is 100% original and MINT, Less then 30 hrs. on it. Always stored in a heated garaged and looks like you can eat off the engine bay and interior and exterior is worth that much??? They were asking 9k and said they won't go any less then 8k.

It is being sold by it's original owners that are in there 60's. I'm new here and was wondering if you guys had any advice. I have a 2008 kawasaki 15f jetski now that I bought brand new and love it, but running out of room as my son is 9 and getting tall. We go to Canada "georgian bay" that has alot of hidden rocks , hence buying a jetboat.

I also like the new challenger 180's but are double for that price for a 3 year old boat.

Normally that would be just a little high for that boat, but that looks new still. I would pay that for it if thats the boat I really wanted. Just make sure to do all the normal inspections you would on any used boat. Take it out on a water test, let it get to full temp and check every button and feature. Also do a compression test. Sometimes low hours can be just as bad as something that has been beat. Things start to dry rot and have issues. Check over all the hoses and oil lines to make sure they arent leaking. I also wouldnt be suprised if the trailer needs new tires after you drive on them a few times.

I sold my 97 challenger 1800 for 6K last summer and it wasn't as nice as this boat appears to be. Mine was in pretty good shape but it was used on a regular basis so 8K might not be far from a reasonable price. Also like RFoster said, things tend to dry rot after sitting for a while. It's my experience that most things rubber that sit and aren't used for extended amounts of time tend to rot out and need replaced, It's the "exercising" of the rubber that keeps it in good shape. Otherwise it's a good looking boat and they are a Ton of fun, I almost prefer mine over my challenger 180 that I have now.

I bought my 97 challenger 1800 with the same engines for 5700 last summer

i thought it looked brand new. then i found out i had to rebuild both jet pumps (500), then one engine's top end let out (500+) and the other engine blew out later in the summer (1200 if you do it yourself)

sometimes, its not a good thing if the boat hasn't been used... especially in the case of 2 strokes

so i have more than 8k into mine and i'm really happy with it. its a great boat

I really want to pay only 7k. I wish to keep it about 3-4 years. Then sell to get a bigger jet boat. I would hope to sell it for around 5k. I really don't want to low ball them and them get pissed off....

I did offer 7500, she said her husband is set on 8k. I showed her some CL ad's of similiar boats for less then 7k. I really don't want to pay more then 7500 b/c of resell value will go down to almost 5k in 3 years or so.

I think you made a fair offer, just because the boat looks pristine on the 'outside' does not mean that the 'expensive bits' are like that on the inside, at the end of the day its still 14 years old. Let them sit on it and when no other offers are forthcoming I bet you will hear back from them.
