I just bought a 1998 XP limited and it requires me to pre mix the oil.

What type of oil should I use and is it easier to just throw a pump back on the machine?

I prefer to use the injector my self. The standard premix is 40:1. The oil injector is a Variable Rate Injector. It supplies oil at a variable rate depending on the rpm. The oil pump isn't the cheapest thing but will save you in the long run on oil and aggravation. The seadoo forum is suppose to have parts available on line here next week. If you can wait till then it might save you some money too.

Premix?

You say you are using premix. It will save you time and money in re-installing the pump, but you'll have to understand how to syncronize it. In the boat section, I've created a thread that you may find interesting about the oil pump and how to align the to your carbs.

What I wanted to know here, is you say your premix. Is the oil tank still there? And does it have oil in it? The rotary valve chamber must be flooded with oil, so they tank has to stay there. So, I hope you still have it on.
