Power issue

I have a 01 sportster le, has the 951 engine in it. For some reason when I get it up to 7000rpm, if I turn the wheel to the right a bit there is no loss in power and it maintains rpm; but if I turn the wheel left a bit the rpm goes down to around 6500. Rebuilt engine, new spark plugs, purrs like a kitten. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this loss of power only when I turn the steering left?

hilariously enough this is exactly the same symptoms I have with my 96 657x (non rebuilt)... its not non-driveable but the RPMs won't go up until the steering wheel is straight and no issues like this when turning right

my mechanic thought it may only be when fuel levels are low, but its not the case for me, and it may have to do with the float on the carbs.

thought this may be only my boat doing this

I think I figured it out. Because of the direction the impeller turns and the veins in the pump, they spin the stream as it comes out the jet. So a right turn is less back pressure on the motor then a left turn. Also I discovered the marina that I filled the gas from last, the gas was watered down so I was losing power because of that too.

A little gas line antifreeze and top up the tank with premium next weekend and it'll probably be fine again.

hrm... intresting, I was going to say was this because of the motor being tired, but I see yours was recently rebuilt

does this happen only at speed? mine will be like this even at low speed
