Possible Cause of Cavatation?

My 03 GTX SC is cavatating. :ack: Can damage to the impeler housing (sku 2670000037) cause this? I noticed some "chunks" knocked out of the spindles of the impeler housing. Can this "damage" be enough to create air pockets which causes the cavatation? The impeller and wear ring both look nearly perfect. I also put a layer of silcone around the ride plate hoping that was the source of the problem, but it wasn't. Any thoughts!

I couldn't come up with a accurate descriptive term other than "chunks".
