Hi,

I have a 92 XP that I bought from someone and I was checking things out and I barely touched a hose and it came off from the motor!! I looked at the tube and it has the connection busted off inside of it. I took a picture of the tube that came off which is just below the hole that it connected to the block. It looks like the previous owner just put some kind of silycon around it to get it to stay. What can I do to fix it?? Please help, I was planning on taking it out for the first time tomorrow.

Picture?.......

The picture is blurry but from what I can see of it, looks like its the rotary valve oil line. Where does this line connect to the oil tank. The top or bottom. Where did the oil line connect on the motor, under the rotary plate on the carb side (about center line of motor) or on the port side, behind the exhaust?.........did oil run out and if so, how much?

If this is the rotary, you can go to a parts store or other hard ware store, but a nipple that size and either do one of two things. Re-tap it to the next size up and put in the new nipple, or you can buy a JB compound, fill the hole and after it's completly cured, re-drill and re-tap for the same size thread.

But taking it out tomorrow isn't probably going to happen unless the oil line is going to your oil injection pump. Then, all you have to do is premix the oil and gas 40:1 and crimp and block off that hose. YOu'll need to make sure you have oil in the tank for the rotary chamber. And if you leave that oil pump connected without oil going through it, chances are your going to burn it up..............a more clear, better picture and explanation as to where this hose is located would really be a big help................

** Update ** It looks like it is the pulse line fitting that has broken off in the block. What should I do to fix it?? Here are some more pictures, it looks like the line connects to the carb (clear line) and then goes back to the block like shown in the second picture. The other end of the hose is actually just hanging below where it connected to the block in the picture, you can see the fiiting still inside the hose. It didn't leak anything since it was siliconed.

Well, I may not be the best one to answer your question, but I can pass along a related item:

The reason you are getting blurry pics is because of an out of focus condition.

Caused by a number of things.

Here are a few, that may help you in the future.

Camera too close to subject.

If you have CLOSE UP macro, use it, (but you may still be too close)

Camera shake, while shutter "blinks".

Holding finger over auto focus "eye".

Back to the Doo

I like Mr Snipes answers. One of those should work. Silicone will NEVER hold this. Due to the fact that there is fuel present, in a vapor form, on the crankcase tap.
This hose is there, to supply pressure/suction to the fuel pump. It must seal well, no matter how you fix it. When you install it, put some sort of gas proof thread sealer in the threads. To be sure there is no leak. Parts store will have it.

Hope this helps.

Hey Shark...first thought, was the oil line, then after second pic, see its pulse nipple, just weird, that using clear line for pulse...
May try auto parts, weekend aint shot yet, they got those "easy out" taps/bits, might grab enuf to back out the rest of nipple, but use some grease/whatever, so shavings wont fall...

Pulse Nipple

The pulse fitting coming out of the cases is NOT threaded into the cases... it is a push type fitting. A easy-out may work in getting the other piece out of the cases. Use red loc-tite to secure the new fitting into the cases.
