I am trying to finish up my engine swap. I was trying to get it to start, but it is acting like it was not getting any spark.

I have replaced the battery with a new one.

I checked for spark, but did not see one. I did it at night, so I would have seen it. I grounded the threads of the plug to the grounding post on the mpem. Is that the correct way to test for spark?

Any help would be appreciated. Tomorrow is the last day I have to work on it before leaving for vacation. I really want to take it with me. :ack:

alright raam, lets getcha on vacation. Dont know about ground'n post on mpem, should be 2 visible post somewhere, maybe w/orange cap around both post. Thats where plug wires go. Cut the plug wires from boots' side 1/4in, then recheck spark, if no dice, then disconnect the wire from mpem to coil(where plug wires attach to), see if she fires up, if so, then switch is bad, or rev limiter bad in mpem, if noth'n, then stator assy or coil is culprit. Before this, recheck fuses and grounds for clean/good contacts, mke sure wires in mpem box are where they needed and secure, and have new plugs.
Roll the forum up on findings...

My GTS had a bad MPEM - The rev limiter was grounding the coil out. I had a ground on the red/black wire from the MPEM to coil.
