96 challenger. I've checked the stator and trigger coil. Both test fine and trigger coil is not broken. Getting 2 beeps with lanyard attached. Getting .5 volts ac to the coil. Checked coil and secondary side was open so i replaced it. Still no spark. All fuses and grounds good. Good battery. I'm going to set this thing on fire if someone doesn't help me soon.

A little update. I'm actually getting .05-.07 volts ac at the coil wire while cranking. Any ideas? Help please!

Well....

If you get beeps... you get a pulsing output on the pick-up coil... and your ignition coil is new... then that just leaves the CDI.

Are you getting a pulse to the coil?

When I had to troubleshoot this problem, I placed an LED on the coil trigger, and when I cranked I could see the LED blinking, which meant to me the coil was receiving the signal to fire, thus the coil was toast. Replaced the sealed coil, and all was well again.

Good Luck.

The 2 beeps should indicate that the mpem is good, correct? Does anyone on here have a good used cdi for sale?

Can you give me an idea of what it looks like, i dont see anything in there that looks like a cdi unit..? Also, what is the electrical component under the hook in front of the steering wheel..? Thanks doc, you have been a big help.

Ummmmm.......... should be a fuse block. Can you post a pic?

The CDI is in the gray box. Not much in there... just look.

well in the rear electrical box there is a black board with some fuses and wires coming out. the starter relay. something mounted under the starter relay, not sure what it is but doesnt look to be a cdi box. im use to quads and dirt bikes so this boat is kind of throwing me off. dealer is telling me that the mpem and cdi is one unit??? as far as under the hood in front of the steering wheel, it is a small rectangular board with fuses, a large plug and a small 2 wire plug coming out of it. either way this is starting to look like a good deal on the boat going really bad. the dealer quoted me over $800 to replace just the cdi, god only knows about the mpem. thanks again.

Search ebay for seadoo challenger cdi. According to the parts fiche, you need part # 278000858

You might want to check with Minnetonka4me, a member here, I've ordered some parts from him and he may save you a few bucks.

The part under the starter relay is the rectifier. I was in my box yesterday checking everything over, and I think the cdi is under the mpem. (Not sure, but take a look.)

major major f up on my part. this is actually a 97 challenger by the looks of things. i guess that makes sense as to why i can't find the cdi in the electrical box.

Yep.... 97 has the CDI built into the MPEM.

All you can do is take it to a dealer, and have them hook into it to test it.
