Guys can someone help me please

i have a seadoo speedster 98 with the two rotax 787 engines.

I have just rebuilt the carbs with the same parts that come out.

I put the boat in the water today and have had nothing but problems.

Can someone tell me what the factory carb settings are and can someone please explain to me it the mag and pto settings are different on each carb

thanks jon

Before we give you any help... we need to know the facts:

1) What was the problem before the carb rebuild?

2) Now that you did the rebuild... what is it doing. EXACTLY.

3) do you have the same problem before and after?

4) if you attempted to do a rebuild... don't you have the manual?? If not... what did you set the "Pop-off" to??

Anyway... the carbs will run at 0 turns on the high screws, and 1-1/2 turns on the low screws. Your boat doesn't use different settings, since the main jets are different in the MAG and PTO carbs.

Dr honda

You are my life saver.

Sorry for double posting. New on here

Now as for my carbs. I give the boat to a company to set up and they told me they couldnt do it as the fast idel screws were seized in the carb.

They wanted £1500 or $2000 to fix which I wasnt going to pay.

I took the boat home. Had the bad ones drilled out by a engerineer and while they were out I put new rebuild kits in them ie diaphrams seals ect ect.

Now u have given me my answer as when I took all for carbs apart I put all the bits in one pot so I now no I am 99% sure I have the mag jet mixed up with the pto jet.

How will I find out which is which ?

My problem today with it is its bogging down and overfueling and will only do 6mph.

Now the boat was fine before I rebuilt the carbs other than the idol was too high hence sending it to a boat shop.

So to finish it off . I think the fast idol screws are in wrong between mag and pto

Can u help with which idol screw goes where and how to tell them apart

Many thanks

Jon

Edit ....... as just re read your reply to me. Can u tell me which jets go where aswell as there probably wrong too

Thanks jon

You said you rebuilt it using the same parts? Are you saying you didnt replace the diaphragms? Also, how do you know its over fueling and not under fueling? Have you done a plug chop? Have you checked compression? Is this both motors acting up exactly the same?

Hi thanks for reply

I have downloaded two from the net and both dont work and the one give my computer a virus so now having to use my phone.

Can u point me in the right direction so I can get the manual asap

Thanks jon

I'm a little confused. There isn't a "High idle screw" in your carbs. That's an adjustment on old automotive carbs, with an automatic, electric choke.

So...

1) exactly... what got drilled out and replaced? (look at the parts link above, and give use a number and page)

2) the PTO uses a larger main jet. Off the top of my head, I think it was 145. You can read the number stamped on the jet.

3) Once again... what did you set your pop-off too? That is a critical setting. If you replaced the arm spring, it can be wrong.

4) Did you use OEM parts, or aftermarket?

If it's over fueling... the pop-off can be too low... the needle/seat can be leaking... or the return fuel line can be blocked off.

I am half way there from your last post

I am working on the b0at as we speak

I have now took them apart and have noticed I have two 145 jets in a pair of carbs and two 142.5 in another. I have put them in wrong.

Do u know which goes where ?

And is the pto side there the propeller is ?

Do I need to do a pop off test as they were fine before I took them apart . Only the idol was high hence the change

The only thing I replaced was the fast idol jet and the diaphram

Again many thanks

Jon

Pop off MUST be checked. You really need to review the shop manual and follow it exactly. Message me your email and I can send you the .PDF file of the manual.

Sorry I was working in the garage all day...

And to top it all off the manual I have is only 96-97, not 1998. Sorry about that I thought it went to 98.

You can become a premium member here and download it, or you can search for them online, I believe I paid $10 for mine and it has everything.

Again I apologize.
