Piston seized

Have a 96 XP. Pistons and rave valves are stuck in cylinder from rust. Currently soaking them. Any suggestions on how to get them out. Cylinders can be unbolted and crankcase can be split. Everything else is off the motor. Thanks

I have had good luck using a large circumference wooden dowel on the top of the piston and smacking it with a dead blow hammer after soaking in PB blaster for a few days. Heat can also be your friend in these scenarios.

Did you split the case? The bearings on the crank on mag side are seized also. I assume others might be also. Got the rave valves out after soaking. Was able to wiggle them a little and they came out

Nope, just lined up and gave it a good couple of smacks and it broke free BUT I did not have a seized crankshaft to contend with either. I would try it, what have you got to lose? Make sure the case is on wood and the cylinders are bolted down...

Will try it in a couple of days. Thanks

Was able to drive pistons out. Working on piston rod pins. While cleaning up bottom of lower case(corrosion) poked a hole in a thin spot. Need a bottom half for a 96 787, 5858.

You have to replace the cases as a matched set, you can't just do the bottom or top of the cases.
