I finally found a couple of different manuals for my 1998 Sportster 1800 and I have just rebuilt the carbs but in the process of taking them off I noticed that the bottom cables on each carb didn't look correct. One wasn't hooked up and the of the other one was but I don't think it was correct. I don't know why there are three cables going to each carb. I'm assuming one is for primary, another is for secondary, and the third is for the accelerator pump maybe.

I want to hook it up correctly but none of my manuals show me a good view of all three connected. I can read everything about adjusting but I don't see any good pics or views of what I need.

Throttle cable, choke cable, oil pump cable. The service manual should show the hook up, you can get one if you join as a premium member or just google for a manual.

Yea, I have the manual for my ski and I was looking last night as a matter of fact, because I forgot which position the choke butterflies need to be in while connecting the carbs, and the service manual in fact DOES NOT explain or have pic(s) of the choke setup. The manual DOES however tell you how to adjust the LOW speed screw, DOESN'T tell you what to adjust the high speed screw to, just that it turns in 1/4 turn increments, and then just shows you about the idle speed setting in and out of water...

So arcboy, I can relate. What I did was look at some of the pics I took BEFORE removing the carbs...didn't really help, but ocod got me thru it

It's pretty simple on your boat, let me see if I can find a routing diagram for you to show the cable locations in the bracket.

On Edit:
This should help you with where it all attaches

I would have taken a pic but the bottom cable was not hooked up or didn't appear to be hooked up correctly and possible missing parts, which is the reason I would like a pic.

I sent that directly to you, anyone else having an issue seeing that I may have to change something on photobucket.

I see it now. I couldn't see it on the phone, but I can see it on the computer. I finally did find it in the manual, I guess I was looking to fast.

Now I think I mixed up the carbs and which fuel line goes where on the carb. I will look into it Sunday.

Thanks again.
