I didn't think I was going to be able to get my Sportster until this Friday but had a change in plans so I drove 3 hours on Saturday and picked up my new baby.

Met him at his house so he wouldn't have the boat in the water. Checked it out and then we went to the ramp. Got it in the water and it fired right up. Took it out on the water (never been in one) and tested it out. I was WAY impressed with the 155hp motor. I've owned numerous jet skis so I thought this motor would be slow pushing the weight of the boat. I was pleasantly surprised. With the 2 of us in it, the speedometer was around 55 mph. I am sure it's not accurate but it felt like it had plenty of power. The guy was showing me the handling by whipping it around. I drove it a bit more conservative. All I can say is what a fun little boat. I can't wait to play with it this summer!

Congrats on the new boat.

The 155 is plenty, unless you are one of those kinds of guys who just as to have the biggest toy. I built my little Sportster, with the intentions of flipping it for a speedster, but after I took it for a ride... even the single 85hp 720 engine pushes it around faster than most of the other small boats on the lakes I go to.

The fuel savings, and not having to deal with the supercharger is well worth the slight loss in performance over the 255.

Congrats

I got my 2005 215hp sportster 4 weeks ago still cold here in MI so had take it to Tampa Bay for some fun. Just couldn't wait to get it out on the water.

Hi, quick question on the subject of the motors, I'm looking into a 150 215hp 2006 too or perhaps an older 1995 with 2x85hp. Would both of these pull up a skier/wake boarder with 2-3 adults on board?? SOrry for deviating, vvvnice boat, enjoy summer.
cheers

with the 155hp i have not had any problem getting a wake boarder up with 3 ppl in the boat but you can feel the boarder when he digs in on corners.

Davo - Either will have no problem pulling a skier but as mentioned before you will feel someone cutting on either boat. I had a 97 twin 85hp and just elected to trade up for a 215hp 08. The savings on gas is huge not to mention quieter, and not so smokey.
Good Luck either way

cool, I'll prob go the 255 hp. The way I figure it, the engine will work less for all uses, & when I go for it, the power is there. Should also be quieter I guess as the engine runs 1000rpm slower for the power(correct me if I'm off here pls). Should be in the next 4-6 weeks hopefully. Thanks for all the info guys.
cheers
