So after trying to get the dealer to recover from selling me a broke boat I could only get them to come up with giving me $250 in parts for my 98 Sportster 1800. I realize that the parts will add up over $250 but he said if he can get it at cost he will give it to me for the same price.

I would like some help in a parts list to help figure out the cavitation, I don't need new wear rings as they have zero hours on them.

1. Can someone give me a part number or suggestion of Solas Impellers. I looked on their website and I don't see my boat in the product list. They have a 98 Sportster 1800 but only show a 720 motor and I thought these come with a 717.

Solas Part number is for a XProp : SD-SC-X(16-23)

2. I also want to get any seal that would help seal the hull/impeller shaft and include the carbon seal but I don't know all the part numbers or technical names to help order the parts.

3. I also want to order the Mikuni carb rebuild kits but I don't know if I need all the extra gaskets and what rebuild kit to get.

4. I want to replace the "grey fuel" Tempo lines but not sure what they are and what parts to order.

5. I see it is recommended to make sure the oil pump is adjusted properly, so that is something I need to research but I think there should be some parts to replace on the oil injection system such as new lines or something that typically needs replaced with a 16 year old Jet Boat.

6. My exhaust bellow or whatever is called is leaking water at a welded plug by a fitting, so as a welder I should be able to weld that up without a problem as it looks like cast aluminum.

Thanks in advance for all the help.

On the top of the screen, click Sea-Doo parts.

1. Why do you think you need impellers?
2. Here is the drive shaft. Parts #10 & #16. Also, make sure you have the rubber bumpers on the ends of the shaft.
3. someone else can answer
4. Go to Napa/Autozone/etc. and get the fuel line
5. You really need to download a service manual. It will tell you how to check/adjust the oil pump (the two lines need to be aligned). Either become a premium member here or do a little google foo.
6. See this post about the leaky plugs

Well I don't know if I need new ones but I figure Id throw a bunch of new parts and cross my fingers to fix the cavitation and if the current impellers are good then I will have a set for back up.

I currently don't have the shaft protectors and figured Id order them. You think Parts# 10 and 16 are the only important parts?

I will download the manual and figure out the adjustments and get the lines from the auto parts store.

I'm sure I can come up with the plugs myself and weld them up. Thanks for the link!!

Shaft protectors are junk. They are supposed to help unwrap ropes. They don't and they break. Most of us don't have any.

You can get the rubber O-rings. Impellers will blow your $250 in parts.

I new the $250 would be blown. Good to know about the protectors. What about the shafts as mine have a little bit of surface rust not much, maybe buff them when I take it apart or should I get new ones?

If the shafts aren't bent, they are fine.

You need to go back to the dealer and tell them that you are not spending it all at one time. You need to get it running (without cavitation) before you order anything. The first step in that is probably replacing the carbon ring and rubber boot. You will also need to see if the grease boot is ripped (if so, that needs to be replaced). Are the bumpers on the end of the shaft good?

From what I can tell, you haven't taken anything apart yet. Get a shop manual, get the pumps off and replace the carbon ring/boot. Although, you do need to test it first (shop manual) and you can use a zip tie to tighten it up. Who knows, maybe it is the ride shoe that is allowing air in.

Throwing parts at a boat will not solve problems. The only thing it does is drain your wallet. Step back, get the shop manual, do some reading about the carbon seal (zip tie test), and start working the problem, rather than letting the problem work you. I know that may sound harsh, but we really don't want to see you spending money you don't need to spend.

I don't mind throwing parts at it considering its 16 years old and they should probably be replaced as preventative maintenance especially since I'm already taking it apart.

I did watch the shaft rotate when it was out of the water hooked up to a water hose and it definitely was "wobbly". I'm not sure if it is bent or not. I will compare them to a straight edge when I take them out. this weekend.

Is this the correct Solas impeller and is this a stock replacement from Solas or is this a improved low or top end power?
