The dash/gauge cluster is looking pretty worn in my '98 Speedster. I found one on ebay that is a 9/10. Almost perfect.

It just arrived yesterday.. but I'm thinking, since I have it off the boat. What's the best way to paint this? Will this plastic take paint at all? Obviously I need something with some UV protection.

Ideas?

Not sure I follow. Are you painting your old one or the new 9/10 black one? No matter what the paint will degrade over time, krylon fusion will work but will fade over time unless it's covered. Or are you just looking the new one cause the graphics are clean?

Yeah.. sorry. That wasn't very clear. The one on the boat is scratched and fading. Found the 9/10 one on Ebay. That's the one I'm going to paint, then install on the boat. I'll keep the old one around as well possibly for future use.

The new one is totally blank, just black plastic. I'm going to have some graphics re-created for it.. (Also looking for some replacement buttons.., bilge, lights etc)

I was looking at the Fusion. I think that might work. I'm not too worried about fading. The boat lives inside, and probably will be in the sun 10-14 days a year. And if I had to pull it off every few years and repaint, that's not that big of a deal. Just wanted something that would look nice, and paint correctly.

SEM paints are amazing for exactly this application. Several companies make plastic paint but I'm partial to sem.
If you have faded or stained seats, use their vinyl coat product. Be sure you to use the vinyl prep spray first and you will have a spectacular result.

Thanks.. I just had the seats redone last year.. so they pretty much look new and should be good for several years. Just trying to nail down the correct paint for the dashboard.
