Overheating & Unable to go full throttle

Hi.

I have a 2008 SeaDoo Challenger that I picked up last fall. Last few rides last year I was getting an overheating alarm (code P0116).

This winter I replaced the sensor in the beater box and checked all the hoses which looked fine. I also had the supercharger rebuilt.

Took it out yesterday for the first cruise of the season. Started no problem and I drove for about an hour a low speed on plane (maybe 15-18 MPH).

No alarms no issues. Then I tried to open it up. Initially it went right up to 7500 RPM but then stared stuttering. And wild fluctuations between 5000 rpm and 6500 maybe.

Would not maintain a steady RMP unless I dropped it right down again. After only a few mins I get the loud beep and the P0116 code. I used a laser scanner and highest temp I could find from the hoses leaving the water box was 146F which does not seem that high to me?

Any ideas? I’m wondering if it is maybe related to the computer and that is why the RPMs were jumping all around?

Thanks
Dave

Have you changed coolant? I had same issue but I swapped both sensors oem style and changed coolant out Prestone. Gtg
