overhauling a 94 spi

I recently purchased a 1994 SPI. I have checked compression and all is good. I drained the gas tank and cleaned it. I put on all new fuel lines and bypassed the oil injection with a block-off plate (I've heard too many horror stories of older oil injection units:reddevil:). I cleaned the fuel filter, soaked the piston rings (via the spark plug hole) with teflon/mystery oil. Is there anything I'm missing before I try to start this? I don't want to take a chance on messing it up. I'd like my daughter to have a fun machine for years to come. Any help anyone would offer will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

.........you sound ready!.

No..........the only thing I think I would do is to check it for fire. If you've done all that you have, that's about the last thing you got left to do. I'd only put a dab of gas in the plug holes, give it a try and if it hits, let it run for about 15 seconds if your not on a cooling water hose.

It's probably gonna smoke like the dickens for a bit.

I see this is your first post. And you sound like a pretty smart guy. The only comment I can offer is to remember to charge the battery, and that you should disconnect the bat cables from the Doo, while it charges, or else you will hurt the 'lectrical system.

Also, if you ever use booster cables, NEVER have the host motor running, as it will doo the same thing.

And, let us know if you got her going good!

Nate

Great Advice

Thanks to both of you for the great advice.

I will be putting in a new battery. :bigear:The last question I have is, will the mystery oil in the cylinders retard it from firing at all? If it doesn't start within the first few turn-overs, I'll probably be a little skechy on turning it over again.
