I have been using orange RTV silicone for anti sieze/threadlocker for 25+ yrs now. No bad results yet.

HOWEVER,

My working on marine stuff is limited.

So far, I think it is the best there is for a auto water pump. It
1.) Keeps water out of the threads.
2.) blocks corrosion, due to non-similar metals.
3.) lubricates during installation.
4.) makes disassembly and clean up a snap, with a wire brush and a little gas.
5.) gas melts it, so don't use it in fuel.

I like it.

But is it good/bad/ok for marine use, especially with high rpm 2 cycle motors?

Thanks,

Nate

If it has worked so well for you this long why question it? You have seemed to answer your own questions with your experiance with it in the past. Good luck Robin

Easy does it now! I took apart a bunch of this sea doo, and it had some sort of thread locker in the bolts. I am not used to finding this much thread locker on anything. I am looking for any kind of criticism I can get. I don't want to find out that using this on the___ is not a good idea!

I am looking for criticism. I have fooled myself before!
:)

Thanks!

PS, I guess my main question is related to

1.) ultrasonic vibration from the 2 cycle motor,
2.) Water and a little fuel mixed in it sometimes gets loose in the inside of one of these crafts.

These are new factors, that have never been a part of my experience.

like I have said you seem to know what you are doing and you are open minded that makes you even have a beter under standing of things. Yes there are beter thread locking compounds out there. If it was me I would buy the ones recomended or at least 2 of them blue and read locktite. If you look at your parts break down you will see what is required as to what type of locktite, sealent, lube or oil. If I was out of lock tite I would not hesitate to use what you have been useing.

Vibration.......

I agree with Robin. You seem to have the answer to your own question.

Personally, I use clear RTV in areas that I can't see. Anything else gets nothing but a torque. That's because, I practically tear this thing down every season, to keep the bolts and parts from seizing in place. You seem like the same kind of mechanic. One that likes to tinker with stuff.

The "Loctite" is the preferred thread locker for the Rotax engines. There are several different types used, depending on the severity of the part from backing out from vibration..........

Use the stuff of your choice, just make sure you don't take if for granted and check on it now and then, till you have a good idea of how well it's gonna hold.
