Hey guys after restoring all the mechanical aspects of my speedster last winter I got bored and decided to do some painting and gauge rearranging along with a single gauge hood swap. I ended up using valspar purple rattle can paint from lows and prepped all the parts with a scotch bright pad and denatured alcohol, painted and followed up with a clearcoat i Also painted an aftermarket steering wheel. I got a gauge pod to relocate the tachs under the dash and mounted the depth finder in the steering column

What do you guys think about the look of the single gauge hood over the mirrored one? I'm still wondering if l like it or not I guess it's to late now lol! I guess I'm just used to the mirrored style but it's growing on me.

While I was doing some electrical I tied in some blue led lights into the nav lights and mounted them in the trunk vents and under the dash looks better in person in the dark but here are some pics

I would like a pic from the front of the singel gauge hood to really see the difference. Where do you get those single gauge hoods from?
Nice work with the lights :-)

Love everything from the lights to the colors. The only thing bothering me is the tachs. Not a fan of the placement, seems like it would be in the way and awkward to look down at while driving. But to each their own I guess. Also how'd you pull the control handle assy out that far? Do you have to disconnect the cables?

Thanks! All my buddies pick on me for my purple boat! Lol! I guess you have to be a vintage Seadoo fan to appreciate.

Yep I here you I really didn't want to mount the tachs there but with the limited space I didn't have any other options they didn't get in the way of leg room but yes I think they will be awkward to watch while driving.

The throttle assembly just pulls right out didn't have to disconnect anything.

I'm stealing these ideas. But i have to get some blue led. I have the eagle eyes already in white to use them in the bay but im going a step further and setting a switch that trips when the hood is open.

That's a good idea on the trip switch I need to do that!

Steal away lol!!! This site is a great way to conjure up ideas on mods and projects. Happy to share!

Only bad thing about those are they dont last long, believe me i bought like 8 rolls of these LED's and they tend to fail and usually in the middle of the strip not leaving you a chance to fix except just replace.
But i already have them so i guess im using them lol

Can you take a pic closer ? i just wanted to see where you mounted them, are they screwed on the electrical box lid??

These and others but painted black is what im planning on using for the bilge. 3W LED Eagle eye White. But all of them are white and i want to do a double lights in the bilge. Blue for night and white just to have some clear light in the bilge for any repairs or to check the motors and stuff.

Mine actually are just 3m double sided taped to the mpem. Looks like you need to drill some holes to mount yours but they will look a lot cleaner when your done. Those should lite up your engine bay pretty good though.

Yes they need a hole to be mounted. The bolt is hollow cables go thru the hole. Only bad thing is the are not a flood light so they pretty much shine straight like a flashlight. Going to use them too as reverse lights for the trailer. Still planning that lol

Ouch price a bit steep for a 1W LED . The one's i have cost me $8 for 6 of them on ebay , believe me at 3W they have plenty of power.

Check these out.

Yea they were a bit expensive but I had a gift card it was like $20.00 for the twin pack of led spot lights.

Those lights you found are a good deal I'm going to order some tonight I like the fact that they are a clean install also I'm not big on using the 3m tape because of the fact that it's a marine aplication anyway thanks for the link!

I don't like the 3m either, had a strip LED'S inside my tool box in my truck and the tape lasted 2 months. Replaced and again had to replace 2 months later and there was no water whatsoever so in the boat I'm not even going to try it. And believe me i have like 6 rolls of diferent colors but didn't even consider it for the boat.

If you just installed that black switch with light under steering wheel it will not work. I had six of them on my boat and got wet once and didnt work right again. I would change it, it will just stay on. I had to change them to a different switch. Let if you want the type of switch i ended up using.

Actually that black switch goes to my stereo I tied the lights in to the factory nav switch but that switch I have under the steering wheel I'm not to fond of it never realy fit right so yea send me a link to the switch you used. Thanks good observation.
