last 2 times out one of my 4tec 155HP engines has the oil light come on and one long beep when throttling up from a stop, I shut down the engine, re-start it and then it usually will be fine for the rest of the day. It seems to only happen the first time!! I checked the oil levels on both engines and they are both right in the centre of the lines on the dipstick...therefore it makes me think it is the oil sensor..?? It looks relatively easy to replace, do I need to drop the oil from the engine or can I just remove the old one and put in the new one?? Also, how much are the sensors??

Thanks,

Oil Sensor

My boat has done the exact same thing a few times. Now I have been letting it warm up at idle speed for a good while before I throttle up and it has not happened since. I have heard somewhere that there has been issues with the oil sensors.

The early 4tec engines have 2 pressure switches and have had problems with both of them. SeaDoo has come out with updated replacement switches to solve this problem. One switch is in the front of engine (up high) and the other is on the right side, towards the rear of the engine. Both are easy to replace and you don't have to drain any oil. The new part numbers: frt switch 420 256 880
Rt side switch 420 256 777 . I suggest that you replace both of them. They are approx. $30.00 ea.
Good luck
