Oil return line

Somehow I managed to loosen the hose off the barbed fitting on the crank. Where is all that oil coming from? It was a steady flow until I managed to get the hose on.

So where and why is there so much oil coming out of there considering the oil return line never really returns back to the tank.

Did I mess something up or am I good aside from cleaning up a huge mess? [emoji13]

Thanks for the reply!

I bled the oil lines after that - don't think its required though if the return lines are removed. But I did change the oil filters and the small lines from the oil pump to the RV injection nipples.

So do I need to do anything to refill the RV gear cavity. There was a lot of oil that drained out. Maybe 1 or 2 litres.

No, it will re-fill, it's gravity fed. It's a completely separate system from the oil injection system.

I guess if you accidentally pull the oil return off the crankcase nipple, the contents of the oil tank will pour into the bilge.

No big deal aside from the mess of course, fix the root problem of the leak accordingly and refill the oil tank you should be good.

there is a line on BOTH SIDES of the crankcase for the rv cavity Need to have both on & connected to oil tank. One on bottom of rv cavity with oil pump supply line - -( carb / exhaust side)
One on top of rv cavity ties into low oil sender / tank vent
