Oil pump check

Im sure this gets asked a lot. Ive been googling it for the past day. Put a rebuilt motor in my SPI. Checked the check valves, they held pressure trying to blow back into the pump. Installed motor with new tygon supply lines, supply filter, and injection lines. Pulled spark plugs and held pump open, bled injection lines while cranking motor.
Running 50:1 premix for break in and when running, if i open the oil pump all the way, idle rpm will start to get lower and exhaust more smokey.
So my questions are:
When bleeding the oil pump using the crank method, oil slowly pulsed up thru the injection lines, alternating back and forth between the 2 injection lines. They moved really slow, I would guess i had to do 10 intervals of cranking for 15 seconds Does this sound about normal?

And

When i pull up on the oil pump lever during idle, takes about 20 or 30 seconds before it starts to noticeably change idle speed, spudder a bit, and increase smoke. Does this sound about right?

I'm sure its ok, but just looking for some reassurance from the guys who have done this before, motor only has about 10 minutes of running on the hose and another 20 minutes in water, but all with premix, nervous about changing over to straight gasoline when this tank emptys.
Thanks all for any advice and reassurance.

At cranking speed... I'm surprised you got the oil to move much at all.

To answer your question... yes... sounds like everything is fine. If you physically saw oil pulse up the hoses... you are good to go. Just make sure the cable is adjusted properly, and the pump arm is moving with the throttle. (it can be flipped and not moving right)

My method is to just do it at idle. I pour a few CC's of oil into each carb... open the pump bleed screw to make sure it has oil... hold the pump arm to full... and start the engine (idle only). It will push the air out of the lines in less than 10 seconds, and with the oil poured down the carbs is MORE than enough to keep things safe.

Thanks very much for the reassurance doc. I made sure the arm is aligned with the pump body marking. That was dead on.
When i change the lines again in a couple years, i will use your method. Thank you for the help.
