Oil low warning then rpms dropped

I was riding my 1997 gsi and the oil low warning came on and the rpm’s dropped massively and very sudden. Could this be a safety feature to protect the engine or could there be something else wrong with the ski?

no safety features on these machines. The light is only an indicator. check your compression.

oil warning light then rpm drop would indicate you probably continued to ride ignoring the light and have semi seized your engine.
