After 3 years I just bought my first jug of seadoo syn oil for about $50. (Last owner gave me 2 full jug syn stuff) Being that much I guess its time to lock down the external oil leaks on both motors. Also smokes a lot at first start up. Most likely do to internal seals leaking oil into cylinders.

Giving the age of the motors 97, do they suffer from same problem as older car engines? As in leaking like a sieve after moving to syn oil. My guess is seadoo only had mineral oil back then.

After fixing the leaks should my next jug of oil be the mineral?

Nope... they had full synth for the 800 in 96. But... the leaking problems of 25 years ago where from other issues.

Also... your 720 engines don't need synth oil. It's up to you if you want a little better protection, and spend a few $$$ more.

AS far as the smoke... it's hard to tell from where I'm at... but 2-strokes smoke when cold. So, it may not be an issue.
