i have a 96 gsx with a 787 engine i took it out for the first time and had two problems one was after running for about 20 min at a very slow speed that the motor seemed really hot and i parked it for a couple minutes and went to start it and the high temp alarm went off. the second problem was that while parked on a ramp the the hull filled with oil it drained the whole oil tank in about 30 min. the ski ran great need help don,t know where to start thanks

It could be that the engine got hot because it lacks oil. Check all the oil lines to figure where the leak is from.It is also possible that the engine has a cooling line problem too as a second problem. I would check the oil problem first and then figure out the over heat problem if it isn't related.

when i stop riding it the oil tank was still full and there wasnt much oil in the hull it seamed to fill the hull when sitting on the ramp

That's fine...you still need to look to see where it is coming from. Check the oil lines and the seam on the oil injector tank. The grommet on the bottom that the lines attach to also can leak. Give it a good look over.
Keep us posted on your progress.

i checked the tank it was dry and it didnt seam to by coming from the little line that goes to the injection pump but i did see two bigger oil lines where do they go and is this a common problem thanks again

You need to look over all the lines, to verify that your over heat problem isn't a low oil problem. This could lead to a seizure problem.

found oil leak was the big line the went to the back of the block it melted on th exhuast. any ideas on the cooling problem i rebuilt the top end new pistons and rings was running the ski at about 10% power for 20 min and came in and parked it and felt real hot than went to start it and the temp alarm went off please help

Ok one problem down. You need to add your model and year to your avatar so it is easy to find...to help with a problem. Look at mine as a reference.

Check all the cooling lines. Remove the elbows with out mixing them up as they have a specific location to aid in cooling. remove any corrosion and reassemble them. Be sure the "Tell Tail" is squirting also. Let me know how you make out.

the tell tail was spraying water. the alarm sounded when i put the key back on after it was sitting for about 10 min but i was able to start the gsx and the alarm stopped and every seamed to cool down is this normal

It might have been a fluke...check the fittings and lines for a blockage somewhere. If it does it again see if you can touch the cylinder head and the exhaust with your hand. It should be warm, but not hot enough to burn you, use caution. That's the best I can tell you to look for.

Keep me posted on your progress.

WHAT TYPE OF LINE SHOULD I USE TO REPLACE THE CLEAR OIL LINE THAT WENT TO THE BACK OF THE MOTOR? just dont what to use the wrong type of line and have problems

Take it to Auto Zone and ask for Clear line that size for "oil use". I forget the exact size diameter, so bring a sample and measure the length.

thanks i have the oil leak taking care of i now have a question about the water regulator if i remove the cover and the top spring should that bellow lift up with the spring that is on the inside, because mine does not and it had rust in there. it lifts if i pull it up or if i blow on the inlet i dont know if that is right

If you go to page #103, in the manual...I believe, you will find all the information on the Water Flow Regulator Valve. There is a complete breakdown and a idea of how it comes apart. The bellows is inder the Piston of the valve. THe valve is unscrewed from the unit and the bellows follows it. Check the bellows for any damage and also the brass stem.
