Oil leak?

Hello all. I'm definately not a motor head, and just bought a 2001 Challenger 2000. The engine was rebuilt beginning of last year(ran it out of oil), and runs awesome, but I just noticed a bit of oil at the bottom of the engine compartment! It seems to be wet around the bottom of the motor. Any ideas what it could be, or what to look for?

Welcome to seadooforum.com!

It could be the oil injection supply hoses have hardened from age and heat and are cracking.

My experience with multiple Seadoos has been that outdoor stored boats suffer from oil hose hardening a little sooner than indoor stored boats. The combination of heat in the hull in direct sun along with lack of ventilation (closed hatches/seats) accelerates this effect.

This is NOT to be confused with the grey Tempo fuel hose deterioration.

That said, the oil leaks are a nuisance at first - filling up the hull with oil. Eventually it gets bad enough that it won't affect engine performance, but a gallon of oil will be sitting in the bilge. They aren't the easiest things to get to, but it's simply changing the hose and reinstalling the hose clamps.

And the oil reservoir grommet could also be suspect.....follow this link!
