I am new to the jetski world, but have worked around boats forever. My 2002gtx di was given to my son from his uncle. When he dragged it home we did some cleanup and maintenence on it. Runs pretty damn good minus the wear ring problems i posted earlier this week. I went to the dealer and bought the synthetic xps di oil and put almost the whole gallon in. We have since put another gallon in. My son visited his uncle this past weekend and brought home a half gallon of xps mineral oil that his uncle obviously had been using. should I be concerned? I hear you shouldnt mix the two, but its a little late now. Any thoughts whould be appreciated.

Thanks Hank

as far as I know you cannot run mineral oil in it at all, but maybe the 2002 is different....but I do not think they changed untill 2003....

Catch 22

well i would not pour anymore of the mineral oil in it. Check your owners manual with what the ski calls for. i'd think a little bit wouldn't have hurt it but others may disagree, whatever you have in there or want to use try to stick with it. If you use synthetic keep using it in my oppion i think the synthetic is a little better of the two. I also dont use seadoo xps oil becuase its way to expensive i use quicksilver synthetic for pwc i get it at walmart

no, you must run full
synthetic....caution: The 787 rfi and 947 engine types require the use of bombardier-rotax formula xp-s synthetic injection oil or the equivalnt high quality synthetic oil........never use 4 stroke oils, or nmma tc-w,tc-w2 or tc-w3 outboard motor oils or other type ashless type 2 stroke oils.

I understand what i am suppossed to use, and that is what I am using..... My question was that the previous owner used the wrong stuff and I mixed the two. But have since run a gallon and a hafl through it of the proper oil. I guess it is to late to purge the system.

You should be ok

Just keep running your new oil in it and it should be ok. Also you'll want to keep the oil level full in the resevoir.
