Oil in Magneto Housing - 1996 Seadoo GTX 787

Any tips on how to replace the oil seal between the magneto housing and engine in hull? I have oil in my magneto housing. I do not know if this is my only oil leak. I purchased the ski with a lot of oil residue in the hull. The ski seemed to be running fine until the trigger coil in the mag housing broke. Now that I have the mag cover off, I'm not sure if I should go through the trouble of removing the engine or if I should try to remove flywheel in hull and just replace the one oil seal.

Down load the service manual off the Internet. It should give you an idea of how to do. I am sure someone will chime in on how to.

Front mag cover seal no, but the rear pto seal yes.

I have the same issue. opened the magneto cover on my 587 and saw some old nasty oil in the bottom and the case seemed wet, the stator looked covered. After removing the flywheel, is there any more insight into this job? Just want to know what I'm getting myself into before I pull the flywheel. This is also in tandem with my coil not giving me a reading, so I have to check to see if a wire has come loose from the coil as well.

On the 787 engines the seal is installed into the MAG housing. All you need is the front seal and the MAG housing to block gasket and pipe to manifold gasket. It can be done in the ski.

If I recall the 587 you have to split the cases but it has been a couple years.
