1996 sea doo speedster 717 oil flow. Prior to replacing the oil and valve line and return oil line I discovered oil leaking a lot under the bottom of the starboard engine. I cleaned it up and replaced the oil lines valve and return. I install new oil (quicksilver PWC) after that noticed that starboard engine with the leak if not filling up I see large space with no oil at the valve line and also very little oil being returned.

It should be noted my oil clamps failed so I lost a lot of oil while replacing the valve line.

This is how the oil tanks was configured. Is that correct? I did not replace the oil filter on that line. Just need to make sure if the oil lines look ok to work properly.

Also, I need to understand the routing layout of the oil lines. Why are the lines attached to the T at the bottom of the hull will gravity be enough to push the oil back to rotary valve plug? Is it possible my oil tank is not working property to accomplish the oil flow?

Please advise.

See pictures of oil tank and valve line with space and return with almost no oil. The valve line picture is next to starter of the other engine. There is about 7 inch space with no oil. The return line has no oil to mention coming out.

Oil doesn't flow in the rotary valve, it is just gravity fed and nothing will actually circulate.

You do need to make sure your lines don't have any high spots than trap air like in your pictures though.

Also there is some debate on the Quicksilver oil as it now says that it is for all 2-stroke PWC's. THe problem is there is no such thing as a dual rated oil that meets the seadoo spec of API-TC and the other brands TCW-3 as they are completely two different specs and rating systems. The rule of thumb with seadoo is if it isn't a API-TC rated oil specifically it should not be used in your Seadoo. There are a lot of other good and inexpensive API-TC oils like Mystic and Lucas.

Thank you for the reply. I have one more question. Looking at the oil tank picture: can you answer the following question: This is how the oil tanks was configured. Is that correct? I did not replace the oil filter on that line. Just need to make sure if the oil lines look ok to work properly.

No, that is wrong.

The one with the oil filter goes to the oil pump on the engine, as it is now your cylinders and crank are not getting oil.

The black and white check valve stays on the oil tank and is just an air vent and nothing connects to it.

The braided hose in your picture is not typically oil resistant and will get hard and brittle.

Also what oil are you using? Typically blue oil is not correct for a seadoo.

. Thanks

I do not have an oil pump on the engine it is mixed.
Yes, the braided return line is hard so I will replace it soon.
I will remove the oil pump filter line from the check valve. The valve and return lines replaced and now working once I position the T to upper location so gravity can run oil properly.

This boat was worked on before me. I am trying to learn which I am with your help, never had a sea doo before.

What should I do with the filter line. what if I position this filter line higher so gravity wont take over?
Please advise.

I removed the oil in the tank and started using quicksilver PWC full synthetic with no TCW 3 written on the container. I am not sure what the previous owner used. I got it cheap and both engines start up fine. If things go bad I just sell it for parts. They are expensive.

Thanks for the quick reply.

You really should reinstall the oil injection system as it is really reliable and you will use about half the oil of premixing.
