I was wondering if I could use a stepless ear oetiker on the pto boot instead of the clamp that was stock it looks a little different but I just wanted to make sure it would be cool thanks!uploadfromtaptalk1393647321858.jpg

I just replace them with a ziptie. It's a low stress point. You just need something to hold it closed, so grease doesn't spray out.

There is another option, you can get a stainless steel cable tie at Home Depot, they have rounded edges so it shouldn't cut into the rubber boot, and they look almost original.

Good idea! I was thinking of using a Thomas and betts zip tie with the stainless insert but I like that even better plus I need to swing by and pick up some tools anyway so I will check those out. Thanks

you know you can source OEM clamps at a a reasonable price. remember they spin at 7k...

Pale, you got me thinking I did go out of my way to buy all new oetiker clamps for everything so I looked into it and the site store has the clip clamps for $6.99 not bad for a piece of mind although I value everybodies suggestions highly I might just go with the manual on this one just to be safe. will this tool work on the stock clamps it's a oetiker specific tool?

don`t think so, those look like the kind for the ears pinch clamps. the oem oetikers use very tiny points/tines to grab the clamp and squeeze so the clamp rotates in itself and locks into place...

I don`t have the model I have in front of me, but look in my build thread and there should be a pic of the pliers...

Ok will do thanks!

Looking at that pic I think you might need the other style that it's like the flat jaw ones you posted, but there it's a foot that comes down to push down on the clamp, your looked like tools a fairer uses. I've seen many horses get shoe'd by a fairer and they all have those pliers.

Like these, but your pic is blurry. I have seen 2 different styles. I like the ones that take the first type of pliers. I never liked house clamps on there our cable ties, both look back woods to me......but in a pinch they work fine. I like the fact that I can just keep reusing the same one over and over.

yup those are the ones I have, and I also like that I can reuse the clamps as long as you don`t cannibalize them when removing them.

when I do install new, like I just did again, I keep the older ones as spares... OSD has a very good price for these clamps...
