O.P.A.S questions

Can anybody tell me how opas works?..... I have a 02 GTI with OPAS. I have read the shop manual and did some research on the web and have not found a good site explaining how it actually works. The left side vane seems to be spring loaded and moves up and down, I assume with pressure from the pump via a small hose to the opas cylinder. On the right side it does not have spring and does not go up and down. Im not sure if this is normal or not. The ski seems to lean a little to the right at lower sppeds but seems to straighten out with higher RPM's Does anybody have a 02 03 GTI with OPAS they can look and see if the steering vanes are the samae as mine?

yes i think you have a problem with it. I personaly dont like opas off power assist stearing.... its like training wheels for a pwc and and feel weird when crossing wakes. 1st thing ill be doing when i buy a ski is to remove the opas.

Thats what I thought but the right side assembly looks like it should not have a spring. Anybody with a 02 GTI they can take a look at?
