Nut pulled through Impeller Housing

I changed the jet pump oil on my 98 SeaDoo Sporsteer 1800. When bolting the steering system and venture back in place I was torqueing the 4 screws back in place to the 16 ftlb. Then I heard the dreaded sound of something cracking. I noticed that the impeller housing cracked along the bolt hole and the nut started to push through. Since the crack is on the outside mounting hole and not along the wear ring at all I am planning on using the boat since the 3 other bolts were fine and I was still able to snug up the bolt with the pulled through nut. Has anyone else ever have one of these nuts pull through?

A photo would help identify what you've encountered. If you're talking about the black plastic cone - I had a similar situation.
