Not sure I'm getting the most MPH out of my boat.

Ok, I bought a 97 Challenger 1800 last month since then I have put a new pump on as the old one was missing. Got it out on the water and the port side jet was cavitating really bad and I could only do about 45mph. Since then I have but new wear rings in both jets. Now with the cavitation gone it still will only do 45. Is this the most I'm going to get out of it? The previous owner told me that before the jet got messed up it would do 60 according to speedo.

what are your max rpm`s for both engines?
on our 98, we can get 45-47mph gps @ 6600-6700 rpm`s. And this is with all new everything and Solas 15\23 impellers on a full tank of fuel, 2 adults and our dog onboard...
I have no doubt that if I find my missing rpm`s on the starboard engine and we are lower on fuel, that this boat can reach 50...
I just don`t mash it or push it, it`s already old, even tho rehab`d...

I think the challenger 1800 is pretty heavy for the 787`s plus the fact it has 140mm pumps...

an 1800 with one person on board should get into the low 50's. With the top up, and 4 people... and some gear... you are looking at about 45~47.

Rpms are around 6800.

One thing... how did you check the speed? The factory speedo is almost never right. Take a GPS with you, and then tell us your speed.

With two people and very little gear(knee board and the cooler with ice and gatorades) Im lucky if i can get past 40ish.

For sure do not trust you speedo. I have GPS and an app on my phone. The fastest I ever got was 51 .... With the wind and going down river. Going up river and against the wind I get about 44 mph. Some tImes the stock speedo is 10 mph off. Rough water, calm water, and may be running a little rich today, maybe not..... Mine runs a little different every day at full throttle.
