After much dicussion with my wife, I think we are going to put the jet boat up for sale and move to something a little bigger. The Sportster 1800 is still a great boat and it was awesome for us to start out on, but we need something with more room and more storage. We are probably going to make the jump and go to an I/O. Looking at a Crownline LPX in the 22 ft range. I know this isnt the best place to put this but I just wanted to say thanks to Doc and all the others who have helped me throughout the past two years getting to know the ins and outs of my boat. Your advice is truly appreciated and I will defiently recommend the site to the next owners. I may peek back in here once in a while. Good luck to all of you and safe boating!!!

It's up to you. There is nothing wrong with an I/O boat. Other than sharp things around the back. There have been a few members here who have bought other boats, and still drop in. Who knows... you may get the itch for a ski too.

Once you get your new boat... post up some pics.

Just an FYI... as you can see by my name... I'm not a brand loyal guy. I buy what I get a good price on. Even my current set of water toys includes a Polaris Genesis. And honestly... it's probably been one of the best ski's I've owned. (for a big ski)

We were in the same position that you are in... about 2 years ago. The wife was preg with our second kid... and the spotster was fun... but it was small. So... it got sold. We finally got the itch for a new boat... and the wife wanted a big one... and she wanted the islandia. So... that's what we have now. BUT... we almost ended up with a similar version from another company. (with an IO) The reason I didn't get the IO was because the outdrive was a goofy Bravo "X" and the parts were expensive. I figured that I would have to put $2k into the IO unit. AND... the engine ran... but had 700 hrs on it. (So it was going to need a rebuild too)

Good luck with your choice.

It should be in the for sale section... but I'll allow it since it's in your thread, and it wasn't a "For Sale" thread.

But... I'm not sure if the owners have their new for sale section up and running yet. If they do... then they may want it moved.

I'm sure you will sell it... but it's not going to be easy to do since it's the end of the season. You may have to park it, and sell it in the spring.

Well just an update.....after looking at a few boats my wife and I found one that we both fell in love with (as well as my 18 month daughter). We brought it home on 10/1 and have had it out about 5 times already. Kinda sucks that I have to put it to sleep for the winter soon but I knew that going in. The Seadoo is still here and will probably end up keeping it through the winter (i have actually contemplated keeping both but I know the wife wont go for that). Well here it is. We still need to come up with a creative name for her...........

how about "The big Bird" or "Big bird" , Yell-Lo,, your daughter's/wife's name + II

Just to add since some were asking......2005 Crownline 202 LPX w/ 350 Mag MPI w/Alpha I Gen II Outdrive

2005.... should be good for a lot of years. Just make sure your IO oil is clean... and the bellows aren't ripped. AND... Don't forget to put the IO up before you pull it out !!!!!! I can't tell you how many times I've seen guys crush a prop pulling it out of the water.

You don't want to keep the LE around. Get it sold... and buy a ski for the small, adrenalin thing. Besides... it's easier to get the wife to say yes to those. (lol)
