Noobie hull question

Yesterday while packing to go home I noticed a "hole" in my hull. I'm not sure how to describe it and its not exactly on the hull. It's on the chine on the port side hull near the bow. Its very irregularly shapped under 3mm long by 1mm high at the tallest part. Sort of a triangular shape. The very tip of my finger can push in a little where I can feel a rough edge but nothing past it.

I plan to take it somewhere to have a proffesional look at it, but I don't want to loose the rest of the season. Is it safe to patch with some sort of epoxy or something (if yes what do you recommend)? I take the boat out once a week and never have it in the water for more than 4 hours. Usually under 3 hours.

I also have no idea where it came from. I didn't hit anything that I know of, and although I beached the boat several times, that spot never came close to ground. The dock where I launched was in good shape and I didn't see anything that would cause the damage.

Yes, locktite marine epoxy, you can get it at Lowes. If it's above the water line, just sand it smooth, you may not need it professionally repaired.

Post a pic... but it sounds superficial. I would fill it... sand it... and not worry. A fiberglass boat will get chips in the belly.

It just so happens that a friend of a friend was over and he specializes on fiberglass work on boats. He took a look and said it was the gelcoat with a tiny bit of fiberglass. He recommended fixing it with something called "5200"? I'll pick it up this weekend and fix it. He also could not figure out how it happened. Thanks everyone....
