My 99 gsx rfi lost its torque during our last outing. It will not jump from the start. It has the rpm's but it feels like there is no water going through the impeller. I already checked for any obstructions and all is clear. Feels like a car when the clutch is slipping but runs fine when reaches speed. Please Help.

No I didn't. That might be it. We ran it for the first time in about 4 months. It only had about 1.5 gal of old gas in it. I topped it off with new gas. I will try changing the plugs. Should I put any kind of additive in the gas tank?

Additives in the gas are a waste of money. Just change the plugs and go have some fun.

I have to agree allso but I do not have any scientific studies to back this up. I have sold products in my youth that I thought were a bull crap magic products that I did not think were worth the money. Now do not get me wrong there are some good technalogical break threws that are probly worth every penny But how do you destinguish the bull from the facts?

Changed plugs, but still no get up and go. Engine sounds and runs great, feels like weeds in impeller, but it is clear.

If it "sounds" and "runs great" than run the old gas out of it and see what happens...

I have the same problem on my 2000 LRV. I have run the ski all summer long with no problems. About two weeks ago I was riding at about 3/4 throttle and I suddenly lost power. After that I could not go above 5-10mph. When I pushed the throttle to go more than that speed it sounded like there was cavitation. I took the ski out and saw the wear ring had busted and was in front of the impeller. I changed the ring and ski seemed to work with one person. When I went out the next day with two other people the ski had trouble getting going...it sounded like pulsing cavitation but once it planed off the ski ran fine. I took it out and saw the back two motor mounts were broken. Replaced and took it out today. Again ran fine with one person but I tried to pull a skier and the same pulsating cavitation sound occurred again (not as bad but with a noticeable drop in power). Again once the ski got going it ran fine.

I will be cleaning the RAVE valves out tomorrow and hopefully this will work. Oh and the spark plugs are new.

Any other ideas on what might be wrong?

Raves a good idea, might be a bad sealant job on pump assy, no offense, it happens, or maybe ride plate resealed, shoe, or all three? Just lookn at diagram, was neoprene washer replaced?..alot variables in this area, that can lead to the performance your hav'n..

well, you mentioned, no problems all summer, then darn wear ring blows up, so you repaired it. You never mentioned about motor performance, so that sounds like its work'n awesome, motor revving up, not bog'n..etc, so only alternative, would be, as to what you had done, and thats, messed with the pump assy area. If the shoe or ride plate or whatever in that area, aint sealed correctly/enough, then it'll pull air tthrew the propulsion, caus'n it to rev, not go anywhere for a while, then finally hook up with water, and bamm.
Ski, you know, should jump right out if workn properly. How was condition of impellor?, bent blade will cause same affect.
