Hey guys, just about at my wits end with this boat. Have had to: redo the carbon seal, clip plug wires, new battery, new starter, clean & rebuild carb and fix reverse bucket ALL THIS YEAR! Anyway, I went to take the boat out today and it has a no start condition. The only thing I haven't replaced is the starter relay (in grey box). Was wondering if it would hurt anything to jump it to have some fun today then replace it when the store opens up. Thanks guys!

Jump the solenoid with a screwdriver or pliers. Will not hurt a thing.

To test, see if you get -2 volts on the small wire running to the solenoid when trying to start. If no volts, could be key, wire, MPEM or a connection.

If you have volts then the solenoid is bad assuming it cranks when you jump across the solenoid.

Tried to jump the solenoid, with no luck whatsoever. I tried another battery that I have which has been verified as being in good condition and still noting. So all I get is my usual two beeps when I put the key on the post, then a click. I am at a loss...

You have a bad starter or bad connection then. You can jump the starter with a Good Battery and jumper cables. If it cranks then you have a bad connection. No crank ibis a bad starter.

This is accurate Indians long as the engine is not locked up for some reason.

Pull the plugs and it will crank much easier. But this will only really tell you that the engine is not seized.

I can turn the engine by hand with the plugs out. Perhaps a little more info may help. I had the boat out, running PERFECTLY started and stopped well all day. Pulled the boat out and 2 days later (yesterday) I ran into my battery being low due to my stupidity of leaving the running lights on. So I charged the battery, click, new battery, click. What gets me is this is only the second time i have used the starter, it was JUST replaced by the dealer. However, I will try to use jumper cables and get back to you.

Well I tried to jump the starter with no luck. I didn't even get any sparks when i made the last connection. Double verified that the battery has charge. Checked all fuses. Again like I said the battery is brand new, the I also noticed that the dealer put on new wire terminals. If this helps: When i was at the ramp and went to start the boat (after replacing the battery that was flat from the lights) the boat did indeed crank, almost started then died off. It seemed as though my replacement battery was low on power which could have well been the case. After it almost caught then died I started to get this click every time I hit the start button. For reference the click does sound like it is coming from the relay. Should I just replace it? Thanks!

Pull the starter and bench test it with your battery. No sense in throwing parts at it until you confirm for free that the starter is good.

If you jumped it directly at the starter, then it is likely trashed. If you jumped it via using existing wires. It could still be the wires or connection.

Pulling the starter as mention and bench testing it will tell you for sure.

I called my dealer and they said that the starter itself is covered under warranty no problem. I will pull the starter and test again, if it is shot I get a new one for free. Good news with a boat that has given me so many troubles this year. Thanks for the insights guys!
